Leap across the pond.

In ten short days I will embark on the trip of a life time across the Atlantic (or Pacific, I don't know which way I'm flying. I'll let your know from the sky). I am going to spend 4 months in Europe where I plan to see at least like 15 countries. I have many friends in Germany, a few in Italy, and one moving to England. So I won't be far from a friendly face at any given time. The first two months I will travel around with friends from Germany. In September I move to Italy where I will be teaching English as well as watching a little boy in exchange for room and board. Sweet deal, I know.

Right now the hardest part is behind me, buying the ticket and telling everyone my plan. Or lack there of. I have decided to not make too many concrete plans in case I get the itch to jump a flight to Portugal, Greece, or ya know, where ever.

The next hardest part is packing! What a struggle! I will see basically every climate God has to offer aside from dessert, which is far from a hometown summer. I'm taking THIS backpack and one small carry on size suit case. If I happen to master this whole packing thing I'll be sure to share my secrets. So far Pinterest is my best friend as well as stalking the facebook of any European I can. I don't want to stick out anymore than a ginger can in a sea full of Europeans. I also don't want to scream, "I'm American!!" I bought packing cubes and a Polaroid so I can go old school.

Anyone have some stellar packing tips or a packing list they swear by? Left to my own devices I may end up packing half my room, my cat, and about 30 pounds of stuff I'll never use.

Thank a bunch!

Misty
